Roadmap to enterprise content management

WORKSHOP:  Abri Hoffman, Carin Booyse, Elize De Wet (Director:  Corporate Governance at the University of Johannesburg) and Gugulethu Ndenge

Proper enterprise content management will stand CPUT in good stead.

Recently CPUT staff members from various departments attended a strategy workshop to determine the roadmap for Enterprise Content Management (ECM).

The session was facilitated by Elize de Wet, the Director of Corporate Governance at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

De Wet was the ideal person to drive this challenging workshop, having led a similar implementation at UJ. She provided insight to some of the challenges UJ faced and still face on their ECM journey.

She indicated that UJ opened up the equivalent of 32 rugby fields of space though proper classification, digital storage, archiving and destruction of documents.  UJ furthermore destructed 80 tonnes of paper in 2016.

The workshop also provided staff members with the opportunity to debate various issues regarding ECM and how best to go about it at CPUT. Departments also presented their most pressing ECM challenges and priorities.

The workshop outputs are invaluable in crafting the ECM strategy and roadmap and alignment of such with CPUT’s legal, operational and technology roadmaps to ensure an integrated sustainable implementation.
