Students

Hello and welcome

CULTURE: The students from European universities who are part of the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences International Exchange Programme recently visited Langa Township to learn about local culture

Twenty–three students from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands will spend this semester studying in various departments in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences as part of its acclaimed international exchange programme.

The faculty treated them to a welcome lunch and a full day cultural tour of the Peninsula.

The tour started at the Cape Town Campus library when Nizaam Peck, the faculty’s International Exchange Programme Co-ordinator, walked the students through the area of District Six and explained the forced removals which took place 50 years ago. The group then took a coach to the District Six Museum which gave them insights into developments which happened before and after the removals.

From touring the Langa Township they got some insight into the local culture and had the opportunity to see pottery experts at work at the  Guga S’thebe Skill Development Centre, which is home to many projects aimed at empowering community members.

CPUT wishes them well during the stay!
