African academics visit CPUT for benchmarking

HIGH STANDARDS: Delegates attending the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa 2017 International Conference visited CPUT for benchmarking purposes.

As one of the leading universities of technology on the continent, CPUT is often considered for benchmarking nationally and internationally.

Scores of delegates attending the recent international conference of the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA), which was held in Cape Town, visited CPUT’s Bellville Campus for benchmarking purposes.

The delegates, mainly vice-chancellors and rectors of African technical universities, listened to presentations from the CPUT’s executive management, Community Engagement Directorate and other strategic departments and units.

They also went on a guided tour of the university’s unique facilities such as South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre.

CAPA is a Pan-African organisation that was established following a resolution of the Commonwealth Conference of Education Ministers that was held in Accra, Ghana in 1977, with a mandate to support professional and skills development and to promote policy advocacy in favour of technical and vocational education and training.
