The honourable chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Thandi Modise, will be installed as CPUT Chancellor in September.
The installation will coincide with several institutional events, which will take place from 12 to 15 September, including the inaugural lecture of Prof Victoria Jideani, and will culminate in the Spring Graduation ceremonies.
The installation ceremony will be held on the Bellville Campus on September 14.
Modise, a renowned politician, will take over from Trevor Manuel, who served as CPUT’s first Chancellor for two consecutive terms, with the last term coming to an end in 2016.
She has been appointed for a period of four years.
Modise was elected as the chairperson of the NCOP in May 2014.
She was first elected as an MP in 1994 and served as Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature from 2004 to 2009 and Premier for the North West Provincial Government from 2010 to 2014.
