The management of Park Central Lifestyle congratulates Elvin Kolisi for being voted as the Top Achieving Student out of the seven residences.

Elvin received the Park Central Giant Award for obtaining 16 distinctions out of the 21 modules in Electrical Engineering with an aggregate of 81,6%. He walked away with a cheque of R31 034, 00, an amount which will be paid towards his 2020 accommodation fees.

Elvin, who is originally from Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal, has always had a great passion for Electrical Engineering, a discipline which requires thinking and problem-solving skills.

“I’ve always been interested in the operation of power utilities, the various methods used to generate electricity and the using of renewable energy to generate electricity.  I want to understand the process of power flow from extremely high voltage to low voltage,” he said.

He is driven by his desire to learn and gain more experience. His mantra for success: Always be consistent and never be afraid of asking for help, especially when you don’t understand something.

His goal is to complete his Diploma and then do a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. In the next five to ten years, he plans to be more involved in research about renewable and sustainable energy, as well as specializing in providing renewable energy into the national grid. He says his motto in life to “work hard in silence and let your success make the noise”.

Elvin is currently doing his Work-integrated Learning in KZN with Eskom.  His biggest support structure is his family, who do their best to help him in every way.

“This remarkable achiever, with his hard work and dedication, has the potential of one day aiding to solve the problems that we now face at Eskom,” says Le-anne Rossouw, Student Liaison Officer at Park Central Lifestyle. “We, at Park Central Lifestyle, wish him all the success that he deserves and are proud to say that he is one of our students.”
