Wellness day a winner

WINNING TEAM: Public Relations BTech part-time students arranged the event.

The Faculty of Informatics and Design showed its appreciation for non-academic staff with a Wellness Day recently.

Staff were treated to a range of activities including a make-up demonstration, a talk on mental health and a self-defence demonstration before tucking into a delicious lunch. The event was organised by the Public Relations BTech part-time students.

“The administrative staff work so hard and the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Design. Prof Johannes Cronje, believes that we must show appreciation to them. I asked the BTech part-time class to plan the Wellness Day and to showcase the importance of mental health and taking good care of yourself. The applied learning that takes place for the students is also important,” said programme leader, Deidre Porthen.

Student project leader Kristen Dwarte said while it was quite difficult to organise the event, the team learnt a lot about networking and organising an event.

“At the end of the day, our hard work paid off.”
