First workshop in 2013 Teaching and Learning with Technologies series: Google apps for teaching, learning and research!

Our first workshop of 2013 will look at the use of various Google apps to support your teaching, learning and research activities.  The purpose of this workshop is to introduce to the workshop participants a range of emerging technologies belonging to the Google apps family. Google apps family includes: communication tools (Gmail, Google Talk, and Google Calendar); online collaboration / productivity tools (Google Docs: text files, spreadsheets, forms and presentations); a customizable start page (iGoogle); Google blogs (Blogger); Google Sites (for develop web pages) and their social network (Google+).

Drawing from experiences in using some of these tools in a collaboratively run staff development course across the four Western Cape Higher Education Institutions in May / June 2011 and 2012, and a three-year (2011-2013) nationwide research project funded by the NRF, the facilitator of this workshop will share examples, ideas and good practices for incorporating various Google applications/tools into teaching, learning and research.

This workshop is split into two parts:

Part 1: Google mail, chat, contacts and calendar (Thursday, 28th of Feb, 13.30-15.30)

Part 2: Google drive ( including Google docs and Google forms) and Google Blogger (Thursday, 7th of March, 13.30-15.30)

Both workshops will take place in the computer lab in the eLearning Center (first floor), Cape Town campus.
