In the quest to move to a paperless office, many academics start using electronic reference managers not only to store and reference information, but also to read articles, annotate and summarise them. This workshop will introduce you to Mendeley, a free web-based, desktop-based and mobile app, that will help you manage your whole research process.

This hands-on workshop will cover the following topics:

  • searching for information: using Google Scholar, EBSCO host and Science Direct to locate articles and import them to Mendeley using the Mendeley webimporter browser extension

  • storing information within Mendeley: creating folders, adding tags

  • reading/annotating information within Mendeley: highlighting, adding sticky notes, keeping notes

  • referencing information using  the Mendeley word plugin and creating a bibliography

  • collaborating accessing the Mendeley community and shared folders
