Leesa Wheelahan will be visiting CPUT

It is with great pleasure that we confirm Leesa Wheelahan’s visit to CPUT from Monday, 09 November to Wednesday, 11 November 2015. Prof Wheelahan has conducted extensive research on curriculum relating to TAFE colleges in Australia, similar to TVET colleges in South Africa. Her interest lies in the various aspects of curriculum that impact vocational education. The purpose of this visit is to share aspects of her research and to provide insights into ways of thinking about vocational education within the UoT sector.

Two seminars will be held on Monday, 09 November 2015 and Tuesday 10 November 2015, with a colloquium on Wednesday 11 November 2015. The seminars will be held in the Senate Hall Bellville campus from 09:00 – 12:00, and the colloquium will be held at Breakwater Lodge, Waterfront, from 09:00 – 12:30

The discussion themes for each of the events are as follows:

Monday 09 November 2015: ‘interrogating knowledge for vocational and professional educational programmes’

Tuesday, 10 November 2015: ‘Crossing boundaries from classroom to Industry/’world’; challenges of professional and vocational qualifications’

Wednesday, 11 November 2015: ‘Trending towards the capabilities approach’
