Imagine getting emergency notifications from University campus officials as soon as you need it, wouldn’t that be great? This ability works like getting an SMS but via the mobile app. It is called “push notifications”.
Push notifications allow an app to notify you of new messages or events without the need to actually open the application, similar to how a text message will make a sound and pop up on your screen. This is a great way for apps to interact with you in the background.
Push Notifications can be seen on the lock screen. They are also displayed in the notification center, which can be opened by the swipe of a finger on your phone.
This function is coming to all Android, Apple, Blackberry 5/6/7/10 devices.
