The Cats Basketball team recently celebrated 20 years of existence by hosting an anniversary game between the CPUT Cats and the Alumni team.
Held at their home base at the Cape Town Campus, the Alumni teamed showed off their skills and proved that experience does pay off, winning the anniversary game.
Team Manager, Matome Mokoena says the highlight of the game was when both teams handed a Cats basketball jersey, which they signed, to the teams’ legendary coach Thierry Kita.
Kita coached the team for several years and is now the Associate Director of Basketball Operations for NBA Africa.
Mokoena says the Cats team is currently competing in the USSA Western Cape Championships and so far has remained unbeaten.
The team has their sights set on securing a place in the USSA National Championships that will be held in Durban later this year.
Last year the male team finished second, while the female team finished third in the country
