Two MACE awards for CPUT

WINNERS: CPUT received two accolades at the MACE awards.

The Media Department’s stellar Open Day stall and CPUT’s corporate social responsibility collaboration with the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, recently won two awards at the prestigious Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education (MACE) Awards Ceremony.
The MACE Awards place the spotlight on the work done, often behind the scenes, to promote and recognise higher education institutions. These awards recognise exceptional performance among practitioners in higher education.
The first award was an Award of Merit for the CPUT-Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Social Responsibility Campaign. CPUT was entered by Ayesha Toyer, a lecturer in Media: Public Relations and Rifqah Abrahams also a lecturer in Media: Public Relations.
The campaign showcased the extensive social responsibility collaboration between CPUT and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival and presented the many work and skills transfer opportunities, it offers Media students.
The Media Department’s Open Day Stall received an Award of Excellence in a category which looked at single day events.
The Open Day exhibition demonstrated the world of work to those attending, while also providing real-life opportunities for growth and development to CPUT students and scholars from the surrounding communities.
“We would like to thank the Marketing and Communication Department for their contributions and support. The support of our Head of Department, Prof Nirvana Bechan, was integral in our ability to put these campaigns together and provide our students with these wonderful opportunities. The opportunity to work with Cape Town International Jazz Festival is all thanks to espAfrika and we are infinitely grateful to them,” said Toyer and Abrahams.
