LEGAL EAGLE: Abigail Reynolds, founder of Reynolds Attorneys, delivers a guest lecture on Business Contracts at the Cape Town Campus

Exposing students to industry professionals is key in ensuring that CPUT develops well skilled graduates that can play a key role in their respective industries.

Abigail Reynolds, founder of Reynolds Attorneys, shared some insights into business contracts when she was invited as a guest lecture at the Department of Entrepreneurship.

Reynolds, who is a member of the Commercial, Company, Consumer and Tax Law Committee of the Cape Law Society says all rules governing business transactions should be written in the contract and that unwritten rules cannot be enforced in a court of law.

She informed students that she encouraged business associates to include a clause in the contract which explains the steps that could be taken when parties disagree.

Reynolds also discussed the important clauses that most business contracts have such as dispute resolution, confidentiality, payment terms, transfer of ownership, surety ship and termination of contract.
