WELLNESS: Khosi Mpofana, a specialist in photobiology, in the new laser treatment room.

CPUT’s Health and Wellness Clinic has expanded its range of treatments and now boasts a new laser treatment room.

The new treatments on offer to staff members and other clients include laser treatments for permanent hair removal as well as for skin rejuvenation.

These treatments will be performed in the newly opened laser room.

Another new advanced treatment available is the Lamprobe, which is used to remove skin blemishes or irregularities.

These include skin tags and fibromas.

Some of the advanced treatments that will be offered by BTech Somatology students include:

  • Microdermabrasion – A mechanical skin resurfacing technique which removes dead skin cells.
  • Chemical peels – A technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin.
  • Endomology – Cellulite reducing technology designed to smooth problem skin without leaving lasting scars.

Lecturer & Work Integrated Learning Coordinator Moeneebah Ismail said staff members can also look forward to promotions, which would be run throughout the year.

She said the Male Clinic Days, which usually takes place at the end of each month, has also become very popular.

The clinic is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 15:00 and booking is essential.

The clinic can be contacted on 021 460 3003 or via email on wellnessclinic@cput.ac.za.
