Engineering honours top students

ACHIEVERS: Engineering’s best students in 2016 with Prof Mellet Moll (centre dressed in black), Acting Dean of the faculty

Engineering’s best students were acknowledged for their outstanding academic achievements in 2016 at the Dean’s Excellence Awards.

Prof Mellet Moll, Acting Dean of Engineering, thanked the students for their patience (the ceremony took place later than usual this year) and lauded them for their commitment to excellence in their studies.

He acknowledged the students’ families and friends for their tireless efforts to get their loved ones through their studies, “I have to congratulate everyone here today – the graduates, their parents and families. We need more of this. We also need more alumni like yourself to fly the university’s flag high among our industry partners.”

The heads of various Departments in the Faculty handed the top students their certificates and the ceremony ended on a high note with the recipients of the Dean’s Medals and VC’s Medal being honoured.

Moll highlighted the fact that CPUT is unique because of the “width of qualifications” it offers and the diverse economic backgrounds its students come from. “Ours is a research-led teaching institution, where we seek to create an environment that informs learning and teaching processes.”
