Workshop: Rapid eLearning, a lecturer’s best friend

Workshop facilitator: JP Bosman, Stellenbosch

Workshop date and location: 8th of June 2011, 9.00-12.00, lab 3.11, IT Center, Bellville

Max available places: 25

Workshop description:

There is a myth around designing and  developing e-learning materials that it is expensive, time-consuming and only for multi-media experts.

In this workshop we will be busting that myth by introducing so-called rapid e-Learning tools. These tools are readily available, free and easy to use and will empower lecturers to design and develop more engaging learning materials without any programming, graphical design or other multi-media authoring skills.

Working with Power point as the integrative tool, we will combine text, graphics, audio and video by using rapid e-learning tools such as iSpring, Audacity, Format Factory and Powerpoint’s inherent design strengths.

By the end of the workshop participant will:

  • Have seen rapid e-Learning in action
  • Understand the concept of rapid e-Learning (including the strengths and weaknesses)
  • Have built an interactive learning object by using freely available rapid e-Learning tools
  • Understand the basics of audio and video and how it can be incorporated into a presentation or course
