Feeding furry friends

Bags and bags of cat food have found their way into the hands of a group of staff members who are caring for the CPUT Campus cats.

The Campus Cat project was launched several years ago by a group of staff members on the Bellville and Cape Town campuses.

With no one to care for them, the staff members began caring for the cats, which play a vital role in keeping vermin under control.

The team has been paying for these services, which include sterilizations and health checks, out of their own pockets or with limited donations.

But thanks to all CPUT staff members who heeded the call to donate cat food, the task of these staff members have been made much lighter.

And remember, although the cat food drive is over, you are still welcome to make a donation throughout the year and support this worthy cause.

Feel free to drop off you cat food at the Marketing and Communication Department on the Bellville Campus (2nd floor, Administration Building).

CPUT, spread the warmth

Its official – winter has hit Cape Town and it has hit hard!

And in the spirit of the CPUT Gives Back Campaign, we are calling on all staff members to spread the warmth and donate a blanket.

But before we provide you with more details on the blanket drive, we just want to convey a very BIG THANK YOU to all staff who came on board and participated in our school shoe and cat food drive.

By digging deep into your pockets, CPUT was able to put much needed school shoes on the feet of learners attending the Athlone School for the Blind (see the attached photograph).

The donation of cat food has already been distributed to the dedicated group of staff members and volunteers who are keeping our campus cats well fed.

If you did not manage to participate in the previous campaigns, don’t despair.

Go out and purchase a blanket at your local store and pop it into one of the donation boxes that is currently up in the admin areas at our various campuses.

You can also drop off your blanket at the Marketing and Communication Department office on the Bellville Campus (Administration Building, second floor).

Come on CPUT, let’s join together and spread the warmth this winter!

Have a great weekend and keep warm!

Smiles at Athlone School for the Blind

It was all smiles at the Athlone School for the Blind, thanks to CPUT staff members who donated a pair of schools shoes.

The school shoes were packaged in CPUT bags and dropped off at the school by the Marketing and Communication Department.

Situated in Bellville, the school provides education for blind and visually impaired children from some of the Western Cape’s poorest communities.

The school’s psychologist, Patricia Scheepers, thanked CPUT and says the donation of schools shoes is much needed.

A big thank you to all staff who decided to give back and make a difference in the lives of children!
