Robing Ceremony honours MTech graduates

PROUD MOMENT: Some of the MTech graduates who attended the Faculty of Informatics and Design’s robing ceremony

It was a proud moment for MTech graduates in the Faculty of Informatics and Design when they were honoured during a special robing ceremony recently.

Eleven MTech students from the faculty graduated during CPUT’s Autumn Graduation series.

The robing ceremony gave them and their supervisors the opportunity to share the obstacles they faced and the successes they achieved on their journey to graduation.

The ceremony was also a special occasion for the graduates’ loved ones as they were given the privilege of robing them.

Graduate Grant Hughes said completing his MTech was the most difficult thing he had ever done and had required a lot of self-discipline.

“The main lesson for me was perseverance,” he said, adding that his MTech studies had also taught him how to deal with criticism.

Prof Johannes Cronjé, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Design, paid tribute to the students, their supervisors, and the loved ones who supported them along the way.

“When you walk out of here you are a master of that field. That gives you a certain gravitas,” Cronjé said to the students.
