The Nursing Science Department has officially welcomed its first cohort of Extended Curriculum Programme BTech Nursing students to the Bellville Campus.
Prof Karien Jooste, Head of the Department, said the cohort of 50 students are being accommodated in the Old Education Building.
Six new staff members have come on board to teach the students.
Jooste said the department was undergoing a revamp in anticipation of a new degree programme, which they hope to launch in 2020.
This would depend on final approval from the South African Nursing Council.
“We are very excited to have the ECP students on the Bellville Campus, as well as to welcome the new staff members and look forward to a range of exciting developments in the Nursing Science Department,” said Jooste.
