Meet Seraj Abrahams

The countdown to one of the world’s most prestigious cycling events, the Absa Cape Epic, has begun. CPUT will again take center-stage in March 2016, when our Wellington campus hosts one of the stages of the race, which runs from 13 -20 March.

The Epic sees international mountain-biking stars cycle over 700 km for a demanding eight days.
Exciting news is that CPUT, along with co-sponsor PPS, will also be entering a development team, made up of a CPUT alumnus and a rider of promise.

The lucky alumnus is Seraj Abrahams, who completed a BTech in Quantity Surveying in 2014. Seraj is a Candidate Quantity Surveyor at the Cape Town offices of Mbatha Walters and Simpson. He says it’s a dream come true to be selected as a team member for CPUT’s development team.

“Realistically, I would never be able to get a foot in the door by myself. But it just so happened that a colleague who has completed 6 previous Epics heard that CPUT was working on raising sponsorship for the event. Being a CPUT graduate and an avid mountain biker, I jumped at the chance to find out more. After applying and completing briefings about the whole process, a select group of us were chosen to undergo testing. The tests were designed to single out those with the requisite mental and physical toughness to survive the rigours of this extremely gruelling race. After completing the assessments, I was told that I had been selected to participate – and I couldn’t be more thrilled!”
