International study opportunities up for grabs

APPLY NOW: Staff members are encouraged to apply for the EUROSA scholarship programme

The opportunity to complete a fully-paid Master’s or PhD programme at a European university is up for grabs.

Interested CPUT staff members are urged to participate in the EUROSA scholarship programme.

The programme, which has been running since 2010, offers staff members the opportunity to complete a Masters or PhD programme with affiliate universities in Europe.

Staff members can also apply for staff visits to investigate aspects related to their work at participating European universities.

The duration of the scholarship periods varies from one to 36 months, with the grant covering a monthly allowance, health insurance, tuition fees and travel costs from South Africa to Europe.

Recently the International Office hosted a roadshow at the Bellville Campus where detailed information on the programme was shared with staff members.

Up-skilling

Speaking at the event, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Technology Innovation and Partnerships, Dr Chris Nhlapo, says the programme is playing a key role in up-skilling staff in the higher education sector.

Since the inception of the programme a number of CPUT staff members have participated in the programme.

Director of Human Resources at CPUT, Mikhail Mabuza encouraged staff members to apply for the scholarships.

“In the next five years, 45% of professors will exit the system. The question is can we fill this void?”

Mabuza says these opportunities are not limited to academic staff member, but the invitation extends to administrative staff.
