South Africa’s premier mountain bike event, the Absa Cape Epic, cycled its way through CPUT in 2015. Classified as the “Tour de France” of mountain biking, riders called CPUT’s Wellington Campus home during stage five of the race.
The event, which takes place annually in March, attracted more than 1 000 of the world’s elite professional mountain bike riders who covered 739 km over eight days.
CPUT’s Wellington Campus received the award for the Best Stage Location of the 2015 Absa Cape Epic.
