Etienne Joubert

Etienne Joubert is a staff member in the School of Sport, Events, Tourism and Hospitality and is based at the CPUT Wellington Campus.

For Joubert, who has held national colours in various sporting codes, mountain biking is second nature.

“What draws people to mountain biking is the outdoors. In road cycling you are in the urban areas, whereas with mountain biking you are in nature and exposed to all the elements,” he says.

Joubert is also no stranger to the Absa Cape Epic, having competed in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2014.

Brown-Waterson is also a veteran Absa Cape Epic competitor, having taken up the challenge in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

“I just really enjoy being on the bike and I also love the competitiveness of the sport,” she says.

Brown-Waterson says the Absa Cape Epic is a must for any mountain bike racer who is up for a challenge.
